Haidong Gumdo is a Korean sword martial art. Its modern form was developed when Master Jeong-Ho Kim began studying the art in the early 1970s. Master Kim (10th Dan) is the founder of the World Haidong Gumdo Federation and continues to serve as its president.

The art is characterized by sharp, fast, and precise sword cuts, smooth circular movements, flying strikes, and acrobatics. All of these elements come together in forms practice, which is performed both through carefully defined choreographies and more freely, either individually or in groups. Another hallmark of the art is the focus on defending against multiple opponents simultaneously, regardless of the terrain. Practitioners also train sword cuts on tangible targets such as newspaper sheets, bamboo stalks, apples and hay bales.
