The name Cheong Yong Dojang translates from Korean as “Blue Dragon” and dojang means training hall.
Cheong Yong Dojang (Haidong Gumdo Mikkeli ry) has been operating in Mikkeli since 2010 as a branch of FIHGA (Finnish Haidong Gumdo Association). The current Dojang Leader, responsible for overseeing activities, is Vilma Leinonen (Sabom).
The dojang organizes guided training sessions for different belt levels a total of four times per week, as well as various seminars related to Haidong Gumdo in Mikkeli, primarily at Kamppailuareena. Practitioners also have regular special training sessions, camp days, and recreational events.
Several seminars have been held in Mikkeli, and the city has participated in many events promoting the art. For example, the first Finnish Haidong Gumdo Championships were organized in Mikkeli in 2015.
We maintain close cooperation with other dojangs under FIHGA and also organize international camps and competitions in collaboration with them.
Kamppailuareena in Mikkeli has established safety principles to support both instructors and practitioners. Cheong Yong Dojang is committed to following these principles.
